Mentoring

Shirt: JCrew, Skirt: Banana Republic, Shoes: Enzo Angolini, Sunnies: Franco Sarto

I wore this outfit last week
when I sat on a mentor panel
to talk to senior high school girls about careers.
The panel had a broad range of professions represented,
and it was really interesting to hear about
what other people do for their work.

I've been sitting on this panel
for the last four years or so.
And I have to say it is one of my favorite
volunteer efforts for the year.
I really enjoy answering the girls' questions,
and imparting whatever bits of wisdom I can.

Today one of the girls is coming to visit me
at work for a job shadow.
I am going to take her through the office
to meet all my friends
so we can tell her about
the different types of work we do.

I hope she doesn't think
we are a bunch of math and science geeks.
(which we totally are)

  1. That's amazing! Andy and I were just talking last night about mentorship programs and how we wish he had the time to do it.

  2. What do you do for a living? As a "recent college graduate" (I hate that classification) I feel like I could use some career mentoring myself sometimes!! (ok often) haha. And any career where you get to be a math and science geek is especially intriguing (Biology major here...)
