Starry Night (Shirt, not Sky)

3.21.2013

Skirt: Talbots, Shell: Ann Taylor, Shirt: Banana Republic, Tights: Hue, Earrings: Anthro

I totally forgot I bought this shell
(until this week)
at the Ann Taylor Black Friday
50% off the store sale event.

Does that ever happen to you?
You find something buried in your closet,
and you're like...SCORE!
It's like shopping in your own closet.

Also, who else loves this sequin shell?
I think it might be a new favorite.
Now that I remember I own it I mean.

You can also see this layered under lace in yesterday's post.
Yes, I really did wear this two days in a row.
Shhhh! Don't tell...

I'm linking up today for Mix and Match Fasion's
What I Wore to Work series.
This link up is perfect for me,
since 9 times out of 10 I am showing you a work outfit anyways!
And yes, I wear sequins to work a few times a week :)

Sequins and Lace

3.20.2013

Lace Shirt: Talbots, Sequin Tank: LOFT, Jacket: Ann Taylor, Pants: Banana Republic, Shoes: Guess, Bracelet: JCrew

Have you guys ever tried layering a sequin tank
under one of your lace tops?

I was rushing out the door for work,
digging around looking for a black shirt to layer,
when I realized my only real black tank top is covered in gold sequins.
I paused for a moment and thought "I wonder..."
and threw on this combination.

I'm in love.
I will be layering lots of more sequins under lace this year.
You all should give it a try!

I'm linking up with Marionberry Style today
for her trend of the month!
Stop by and show her some love!!

Skirt Love

2.26.2013

You guys,
I love this skirt.
Like seriously love it.

I got it at an additional 70% off clearance at Talbots
(I know, don't judge - this doesn't make me old)
for the low price of $18.
I swear fabulous sales just find me.

And its wool.
And its lined.
And it is a FABULOUS emerald green
that this photo does not do justice to.

But here's the most important part,
this is the best fitting skirt I've ever bought.

Its a petite and just the right length.
It doesn't pull across the hips,
it just lays perfectly.
So you can bet you will see me there in the future.
Single-handedly representing for the young crowd at Talbots.

It Was Almost Love (with a Dress)

2.20.2013

I found this really amazing dress at Banana Republic.
A gorgeous sheath dress with sequin details on the top.

The problem?
The hips were about an inch too narrow.
This is a reoccurring problem I have.
I continual try to talk myself into thinking its okay,
but  the truth is it drives me crazy
when the fabric pulls across your hips like this.
I also think in the last year or so
Banana Republic has narrowed the hips on their clothes.
I find myself needing to up-size items
and then have them altered in the waist to fit.
Has anyone else noticed this?

It's also caused me to search for places
that have a better cut for my shape.
I've actually been buying a lot from Talbots lately.
(I know, the old lady store)
But seriously, their petites section rocks.
Ann Taylor is also a good place I've discovered.
JCrew isn't as great...
but I just commit to altering their items when I buy them.
